Working in partnership with Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, Creative Lives has distributed 54 micro-grants of £400 each to help local creative groups take part in the celebrations.

We received 161 applications from amazing groups across Bradford who are all doing great work. We were able to award micro-grants to 54 of them, and can't wait to see the following projects come to fruition.

Lister Community Action Group

To create 'Lister Art Trail' - six artist and group exhibition trails showcasing artwork by current and former residents and celebrating the community's creativity and heritage.

Routes to Roots: A South Asian Heritage Project

A vibrant exhibition, including a documentary film.

Topic Folk Club

A songwriting workshop bringing people together to write songs to contribute to Topic’s ‘Songs with a Bradford Accent’ project.

TCC Kids Art Club

A series of open workshops for children and young people, a street art session creating a mural, and a photography workshop. 

Burley Arts Collective

Burley Arts Festival - a celebration taking place on 28 and 29 June, of all the people in the village who are artists, musicians, actors, writers, crafters and photographers.

Mindfulness Girls

Self-love workshops for girls based around culture, religion, family, friends and communities to design and create a large banner.

The Big Knitters

Two community workshops encouraging newcomers to come along and contribute to The Big Knit. 

The 'Art Moves Kids' Project

Brightly painted sculptures created by young people, made from upcycled bike and scooter parts.

Loosely Bound / Bradford Sketch Club

Imagine Zine Space - a day: a day-long event for zine and art making. 

SEND Salaam and Summat Creative

A sensory art session for children in the Girlington area with disabilities such as autism/ADHD/sensory needs. 

Our legacy

Poetry workshop to encourage participants to express their emotions and lived experiences through poetry.

Bradford Youth Activity Club

Four rap, spoken word and poetry sessions for young people.

Thornbury Community Development Services

Sufi poetry workshops and a recording studio session.

Haworth Stitch Group

Three workshops with the theme 'To walk a mile in someone else’s shoes', to create a path of footprints along Main Street. 

Sapgate Gardens Association

A lantern parade and shadow puppets in the gardens during winter. 

Nebula Girls Group 

A performance for autistic young people to showcase their talents entitled 'This is Me'. 

Queer South Asian Cafe

A welcoming, queer sangheet - a core element of a South Asian wedding, in which people gather, share food, dance and sing songs. 

Bingley Bell Ringers

A parallel event to the Ale Saints Beer Festival, with a treasure trail relating to the history of Bingley bells, an opportunity to play bell chimes, demonstrations of the tower and handbell ringing.

Bradford Belles

A performance in the new Darley Street Market, inviting people to join in. 

Sandale Community Development Trust

A fun event with opportunities to take part in a range of creative activies such as singing, dancing, cooking, crafts and music. 

Shipley Memories Group

A mini festival showcasing local musicians who will perform for people in the Shipley /Saltaire area who are living with the early stages of Dementia. 

Queensbury Singers and Black Dyke Mills Heritage Venue

Queensbury Zings! - a choir festival with Black Dyke Band.

Anand Milan Elderly Centre

A Bhajan singing competition with three awards.

The Sharing Tree

Visual art workshops and a pop-up gallery in the garden.

The City Gent Fanzine

A community exhibition celebrating 40 years of front covers. 

Bingley and District Local History Society / Bingley Camera Club 

Archive launch event featuring an exhibition of recently rediscovered photos taken by Frank West in the 1960s.

Friends of Crag Community Hub

Disposable cameras for people to capture a ‘Day in the life of Crag’ to be displayed at an open day in spring/summer 2025. 

Holmewood Community Association 

A gallery exhibition showing old memories in Holmewood.

Inspire Support Sports Empower

A cultural music event at Bradford City FC Community Foundation with Baji Bantams female supporters group. 

Ilkley Playhouse

A new playwriting project called 8x8x8, featuring eight shows by eight different writers, inspired by a JB Priestley quote.

ToNE (Tamils of North East)

A Kummi Aattam, a traditional Tamil folk dance, for a cultural display festival.

Baildon Civic & Historical Society

A live performance of 'The Hermit', a story first told in word and song by the Mountain Ash Folk Group in 1976.

Friends of Myrtle Park

A graffiti-style mural to be painted onto the wall of the ramp in the skate park.

Mixed Collective

Temporary chalk murals in public spaces, with Bradford words and phrases of encouragement and camaraderie. 

Survivor Leaders

A podcast asking the question: 'What happens when women speak out about sexual violence?', co-produced with women survivors of sexual violence.

Feeding Bradford and Keighley

One organisation in each constituency will host a showing of five short films, created in partnership with Leeds University for the Food on Film project.

Friends of Brackenhill Park

A creative nature walk at Brackenhill Park, incluing canvas painting, mug painting and a picnic.

Krylati - The Winged Ones

A festival at Bradford Ukrainian Centre incorporating singing and dancing to mark 100 years since the formation of the Ukrainian Youth Association in Ukraine. 

Bingley Ukulele Group

A package of 10 ukuleles and a day of music-making, including beginners sessions and workshops for more accomplished players. 

Bradford Black & Brown Queers

Queer joy - a queer festival bringing more South Asian, South East Asian, and Black-led, celebratory queer events to Bradford. 

Redbeck Allotment Association

An artist-led willow weaving workshop and willow displays.

Addingham Allotments & Gardens Association

An 'Open Gardens' event across the village Addingham.

Equity Partnership

An LGBTQ+ History Month event that will feature ‘Queerobics with Brinny’.

Harden Players

A theatrical production championing and celebrating local talent in the community.

Ravenscliffe Youth Centre
