Creative Lives in Glasgow

Creative Lives worked in partnership with Glasgow Life to map the community and volunteer-led creative opportunities in Southside Central and Canal wards.

The work aimed to map and better understand the strengths and barriers impacting the community and volunteer-led creative opportunities across these two wards. The wards cover the following areas:

Southside Central: Crosshill, Govanhill, Hutchesontown, Laurieston, Oatlands

Canal: Cadder, Firhill, Lambhill, Hamiltonhill, Milton, Parkhouse, Possilpark, Ruchill

This work will feed into the Glasgow Cultural Strategy, (2024-2030), specifically to support the action plan goal to: ‘Instigate a mapping exercise of the city’s culture sector infrastructure, investment and offer to create understanding and inform actions.'

From November 2024 to April 2025 Creative Lives:

  • Mapped existing informal and voluntary-led creative groups happening in Southside Central and Canal
  • Organised two community gatherings to bring together creative grassroots groups and establish the current strengths and barriers.
  • Published and shared a report summarising the activity

For more information about this project, please contact Sophie Fraser at [email protected].
