One of six projects to receive seed funding grants, 'Mother Bog' was a project produced by Angi Ward as part of Creative Places, Edenderry.

The town of Edenderry lies at the edge of the Bog of Allen and this original script, written by Angi, was inspired by her parents, Broughan and Sheila Donegan and their connection to the Bog. Angi said:

"Mother Bog is the story of our Bog since the beginning of time and is told from the Bog's perspective. Mother Bog has witnessed many changes and is still managing to regrow and repair.

"The idea was born out of a collaboration between two visiting artists as part of the Creative Places, Edenderry initiative. It involved members of Acoustic Hearts (who are part of the Monday Music group) and also members of the Gemini Players. It was a commemorative piece for all the men, women and children who worked on the Bogs and for Bord na Mona, and is especially dedicated to my parents, who raised thirteen children on a Bog Man's wage."

The debut performance took place on Saturday 26 April 2025 at the Parish Centre, Edenderry. Creative Lives was there to watch it, and we laughed, cried and sang along!
