Rotherham groups supported to take part in Children's Capital of Culture 2025 Creative Lives worked in partnership with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to distribute micro-grants to community groups (creative and sport), helping them celebrate the South Yorkshire town being Children’s Capital of Culture 2025. Each of the groups received £250 to go towards their project, to use in a variety of ways. Bright Stars Play CIC A free massage and yoga session, followed by a play session for babies and their parents/families. Sharing yoga and massage techniques, then giving famiiles time to get to know each other. Rotherham Parent Carers Forum A soft play session specifically for children and young people with Special Education Needs. Wickersley Youngstars Workshops in singing, acting and dance, giving opportunities for young people from all different backgrounds in all areas of Rotherham to experience Wickersley Youngstars. Bramley Village Trust Workshop for young people to make and display sunflowers, to explore/raise awareness of hidden disabilities. Bramley Juniors Workshops led by street artists, giving young people the opportunity to experience this artform and gain new skills in producing artwork for display. Rotherham Hindu Community Cricket group running a badminton competition at Wickersley School & Sports. Rother Valley Riders MTB Club Free coaching sessions for riders of all levels. Wath Morris Minors Traditional English folk dance group delivering performances with young people at the Wath Festival. The Big Sisterz Baking and cake decorating workshops for children and their families. Breakout Arts - Rotherham Youth Theatre Create a short performance based on 'We're not from New York City we're from Rov'rum' to shout loudly about what makes the group proud to be from Rotherham. Rotherham United Community Trust Reopening event for the Parkgate Astro (PGA), a multipurpose sports space owned by Rotherham United Community Trust. Blaze Youth Group Evening event with children, parents and grandparents to celebrate Wath's history and post-mining community. Including playing traditional games, sharing and sampling old fashioned recipes, and exploring old photographs. Aston-Cum-Aughton Youth Club Workshops to build bird boxes, insect hotels and hedgehog homes in conjunction with Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife trust - then donate theme to local schools, nursing homes and the local mental health unit. ArtWorks SY To go towards ArtWorks’ Summer Gala - a free, community-focused event offering a fun, affordable family day out. Young people help shape the event and there are opportunities for showcasing local creative talent. Toddletime Baby & Toddler Group Delivering a celebration of the 8th anniversary of VE Day, including age-specific activities including crafts, storytelling and performance. Apna Haq Workshop with a global majority artist encouraging mother and child to experiment with collaging, weaving, wood cutting and other techniques. The artworks created will be collated into a book, titled 'My heritage and belonging'. Manvers Residents Association Art workshops for local children at Manvers Lake, run by artists from The Colour Wheel. Cristina’s Crafting Club To deliver craft sessions to young people / children and families, including diamond painting, wool crafts, flower making and knitting. Friends of Brampton Graveyard Event for children and young families where they can help make bird boxes, a bug barn and bug hotels, butterfly collages from leaves and twigs collected from the graveyard, and plant bulbs. Clifton Learning Partnership Activities to celebrate Roma Day, including creative workshops with elements of the Roma flag, and a display of all the works created. Fitzwilliam Estate An Easter event including an egg hunt on the estate's green space, followed by an egg painting and decoration workshop. 14th Rotherham Scouts Celebration day for children themed on St George, with workshops on shield, sword and costume making.
